After The Flood
Amanda Maples and her son Trey, 16, had their life uprooted when flood waters destroyed their home. A total of 20 people were killed when severe storms and extreme flash floods impacted Humphreys County, Tenn., killing 19 in the small town of Waverly alone, on Aug. 21, 2021. The waters also destroyed Waverly Central High School’s stadium, forcing the school's football team to play their home games elsewhere. Trey is a long snapper on the team and Amanda volunteers as the team's nurse. The continuation of the team’s season provided much needed normalcy for the family as they began their recovery.
